Kind Strategy

Frequently asked questions.

  • What types of organizations do you work with?

Kind Strategy works primarily with mission-driven organizations in the public and not-for-profit sectors. This includes destination marketing and management organizations (DMOs), economic development organizations, municipalities, universities and colleges, arts and culture organizations, and community-serving nonprofits.

  • What is a fractional CMO?

A fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) provides executive-level marketing leadership on a part-time, retainer basis. This model gives organizations access to experienced leadership, strategic direction, and accountability without hiring a full-time executive.

  • What's the difference between CMO Core and CMO Advisor?

CMO Core provides embedded leadership and ownership of the marketing function, including strategy, priorities, and oversight of teams and vendors. CMO Core is best if you need ongoing leadership support and a strategic partner.

CMO Advisor offers senior perspective and strategic counsel without transferring ownership or management. CMO Advisor is the right fit if you want senior-level recommendations and the ability to pressure-test your strategies and plans.

  • Do you offer marketing execution such as social media management?

Kind Strategy focuses on leadership, strategy, and research.

Execution is carried out by in-house teams, agencies, or vendors. Kind Strategy will source vendors for Fractional CMO engagements as needed.

For project-based work, Kind Strategy collaborates with trusted creative partners and can build a team to meet your needs, including execution.

  • How do project-based engagements differ from fractional CMO?

Project-based consulting addresses a specific question, challenge, or initiative within a defined scope and timeframe.

Fractional CMO engagements provide ongoing marketing leadership and stewardship through multi-month retainers.

  • Do you work with agencies and vendors?

Yes. Kind Strategy works alongside agencies and vendors, providing strategic direction, coordination, and oversight to ensure efforts are aligned and focused.

Kind Strategy does not replace a full-service marketing agency but rather helps you manage your agency and other marketing vendors, and their outputs, efficiently and effectively.

  • How are engagements typically structured?

Fractional CMO engagements are structured over multi-month retainers to allow for meaningful impact.

CMO Core engagements start at six months with twelve-month retainers available for organizations that want to ensure long-term continuity.

CMO Advisor engagements range from three to six months.

Project-based work varies based on scope and objectives; all proposals include a defined timeline.

  • How do you approach research and insights?

Research is used to inform decisions, not simply to validate assumptions. Kind Strategy designs qualitative research to better understand audiences, key interest-holders, and context, and translates findings into clear, practical direction.

My work is grounded in a deep understanding of the audience, which starts with research.

  • Does Kind Strategy use AI?

Kind Strategy leads with authentic, values-based marketing that centres community and trust.

AI is used responsibly to support efficiency such as note-taking, synthesis, and workflow management, never to replace human-led creative development or expert insights.

  • Is there a charitable component to Kind Strategy?

A portion of every engagement supports community-based animal welfare through Kingston Animal Rescue.
