With more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications, I ground my work in research, audience insight, and building genuine connections between organizations and the communities they serve.
My career spans destination marketing, postsecondary education, the arts, and the not-for-profit and charitable sectors.
My work has supported national campaigns, major institutional initiatives, and community-based organizations, strengthening brand clarity, audience engagement, and organizational alignment.
I spent a decade in marketing at Queen’s University, supporting student recruitment, research communications, and alumni relations, and helping to shape the strategies behind high-profile initiatives, including a half-billion-dollar fundraising campaign, Nobel Prize recognition, the university’s 175th anniversary, and a NASA/International Space Station campaign.
At Tourism Kingston, I led place branding and integrated marketing strategy, oversaw comprehensive campaigns and a multi-million-dollar budget, grew an in-house team, and established research practices to ground marketing decisions in data and measure community impact.
Alongside my professional roles, I have been an active speaker, presenting to destination marketing, economic development, municipal, and postsecondary audiences.
My speaking focuses on authentic, values-led marketing; brand evolution and sense of place; audience insights and research; and the responsibility organizations hold when shaping narratives and influence.
I believe marketing is a responsibility.
My work is shaped by a deep understanding of the audience and a commitment to using influence for good—both in how I work with clients and brands, and how I support my community.
I have also been deeply involved in Kingston’s cultural and not-for-profit community. I served for eight years as Festival Director of the Kingston Canadian Film Festival, expanding programming, securing government support, and raising the profile of Canadian filmmakers and the festival nationally. I have served on its board of directors since stepping down as director more than a decade ago.
This work is deeply personal for me: I have fostered more than 150 animals and continue to contribute as a board member and volunteer.
I hold a Master’s degree in Canadian Studies and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, and have completed executive leadership training and ongoing professional development across the arts and culture, not-for-profit, higher education, animal welfare, tourism, and research sectors.
This includes international recognition from the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Summit International Awards.
I am known for a principled, ethical approach to marketing—grounded in the belief that how organizations communicate matters.
